A taxonomy of machine learning applications for virtual power plants and home/building energy management systems

A Virtual power plant is defined as an information and communications technology system with the following primary functionalities: enhancing renewable generation, aggregating Distributed Energy Resources monetizing them considering relevant energy contracts or markets. virtual also includes secondary functionalities such forecasting load, market prices well asset management related to distributed ressources. Home systems building have significant overlap plants, but these bodies of research are largely separate. Machine learning has recently been applied realize various systems. This article presents a 3-tier taxonomy functionalities. The top tier categories optimization, classification. scientometric methodology used, so that custom database developed capture metadata from all articles included in taxonomy. Custom algorithms generate infographics database, visualize trends research. paper concludes discussion topics expected receive high number publications future, currently unresolved challenges.
